 Commercial/Operations Manager

A fantastic opportunity to join an established, successful and forward thinking specialist within the Travel Sector as a Commercial Manager.   The objective is to sell an ever increasing number of profitable tours in our clients Inbound Department

 As an Commercial/Operations Manager you will undertake an array of tasks &amp; responsibilities: 

 Monitoring the client database and client target list will be an ongoing task.

Significant use of the telephone and email as sales tools.
To offer suitable products to existing and prospective clients.  Sourcing of product and industry contacts will require attendance at trade shows and desk research.  To develop, present and, once agreed, execute a marketing strategy, adapting it to the demands of the market when required. The ultimate goal is the successful marketing of our services and tour products.
To ensure that tours are quoted with suitable margins and are operated profitably.
To ensure that suitable suppliers are selected so that tours are provided in accordance with the standards promised to clients and to monitor the quality of provision from suppliers.
To oversee, develop and improve procedures within the department, ensuring compliance with company systems and standard practices.  Ultimately this is about improving efficiency and ensuring the successful execution of all tour arrangements.To generate tour enquiries through personal sales activities and through marketing activities including, but not limited to, those described here.
Trips outside the office, both within theUKand abroad, to meet with key target clients and to attend trade shows and workshops.
To propose and subsequently agree an annual marketing budget.
To produce quotations and itineraries, sometimes personally but more importantly ensuring that the department as a whole does so efficiently.
To book hotels, transport and other services and to confirm tour arrangements to clients accordingly. 
To keep close control of costs, particularly staff costs.
To encourage and motivate staff

 Strong inter-personal/communication skills with experience of managing a team

Strong negotiating skills
Good presentation skills

European language skills (advantageous but not essential)
Strong marketing skills
A positive, “can do” approach to problem solving
A travel industry background, most likely with some experience of Inbound group tourism
Some experience of contracting/product development and sales
Excellent spoken and written English, and a desire to ensure that English is used correctly, effectively, attractively and clearly in all the presentations and communications of the department.

These sales should generate healthy margins and all tours must be operated professionally and successfully, retaining the company reputation for quality service. 

As an Commercial Manager you will undertake an array of tasks &amp; responsibilities: 

*  An analysis of past and existing Inbound business to establish trends.
*  An analysis of the Inbound market and of main competitors.
*  Analysis of our current client database and client target list. 
*  This may lead to a streamlining of both. Monitoring the client database and client target list will be an ongoing task.
*  To generate tour enquiries through personal sales activities and through marketing activities including, but not limited to, those described here.
*  Significant use of the telephone and email as sales tools.
*  Trips outside the office, both within the UK and abroad, to meet with key target clients and to attend trade shows and workshops.
