A Product Manager is responsible for putting together the package for a
specific destination. They visit the destination/s and negotiate rates with
hotels, ground suppliers etc for the company to sell on. This part of the job is
referred to as Contracting. The Product Manager would research destinations to
expand on and plan the pricing and margin targets for these destinations. They
provide in-depth copy writing, photography selection, and layout plans for the
brochures and websites. They are also involved in marketing the package and take
responsibility for liaising with PR agencies, journalists and newspapers.
The Product Manager is totally responsible for their specific country or area
and will also manage the Product Executives and other junior staff.
To become a Product Manager you need to have a minimum of 2-3 years Product
Executive experience and specific destination knowledge. Language skills are
sometimes required.
