The temporary position of Travel Consultant is one which books package holidays, flights, car hire and hotels for customers as well as ordering foreign exchange and selling travel insurance. Customers may book face to face or over the telephone. Temporary Travel Consultants are employed in Travel Agencies and Call Centres of ABTA bonded companies on assignments from one week to many months.

Temporary assignments mainly cover sickness, holiday and maternity leave but they also cover peak booking seasons. To enjoy a successful career with these companies, you need to have previous work experience in an ABTA bonded travel company and sometime have computer reservations system experience. You should also demonstrate good sales skills. There are short and long term temporary contracts available for Travel Consultant roles.
