Bank Account



Many people coming from abroad experience great frustration in getting a bank account. The banks often require proof of address in the shape of a 'bill'. Many travellers pay an 'all inclusive' rent and therefore don't get bills. So what can you do?

Before you arrive in the UK:

One month before you arrive in the UK, go down to Thomas Cook and open a bank account through them. Thomas Cook will make a charge for doing this, however it will save you a lot of hassle and worry when you get here. Setting up a bank account before you come may be essential to satisfy Customs that you have significant funds to enter the UK. They will want to see proof that you have this money. Check with the embassy for further details.

Arrived in the UK with no bank account?

Once you're temping for us, we can provide you with an Introduction Letter to Lloyds Bank, who will be pleased to open an account for you. Simply email
temps@newfrontiers.co.uk and they'll send on the letter to you.

Help! I still don't have a bank acount and I need money!

Your pay will go straight into your bank account after temping for New Frontiers for two weeks. Before then we will issue you with a cheque, which you'll need to bank. However if you really get stuck, we have set up a cheque cashing facility at the Islington branch of Lloyds. In order to cash your cheque, you'll need a letter from us. Please tell your Temp Manager in advance if your bank account isn't ready yet. You'll need to collect the cheque and letter and show proof of identification to the bank.
