For those of you who’ve met me before, it’s good to ‘see’ you here on the New Frontiers site and for those who are new to me, please take a look at my website Breating Space Therapies to find about what I do and why what I do can be a great help to you. New Frontiers and Breathing Space know that times can be tough in business or at home and want to provide you with some resources which help you get over life’s ‘humps’.
In the coming months, I’ll be posting articles, audio files, news, details of offers and so on which help you keep a healthy, balanced lifestyle both in and out of work. It’s often our inclination that if we battle on when we’re on a bit of an emotional roller coaster that things will just settle down, but nothing could be further from the truth. With undue stress, we get locked in a ‘fight or flight’ pattern unless we learn how to release it and this usually needs help. This doesn’t mean however that you’re some kind of ‘basket case’ or that your weak. It just means that your way of working and living may not be the most efficient or effective for your body and mind to work properly. In fact, when we’re under pressure and feeling like we can’t cope, it’s a sign of good management if you ask for help to find a better way to do things.

Relationship Issues – Are you finding yourself blaming others for your unhappiness or dissatisfaction? If so, it’s perhaps because you’re concentrating on what isn’t working rather than what is and perhaps have a rather negative outlook at present. Or it could be that you want that person to change in some way. The biggest lesson to learn here is that we have to accept others for who they are and the only person we have the power to change is ourselves. Often when we find fault with others, it’s time to take a look at ourselves and see what we’re doing or thinking that may be affecting the situation.
Conflicts – Another sign of undue stress is that we often find ourselves in conflict and become angry and unhappy. Maybe it’s time to look at more effective communication styles which help to seek solutions rather than perpetuating conflict and entering the ‘blame game’?
Sickness – When we are suffering from undue stress, our immune system is compromised and this can result in frequent colds, stomach upsets and other illnesses, some of them serious. Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and even some forms of cancer have been linked to undue stress. Don’t wait until it’s too late to get help. Breathing & relaxation techniques have been proven to have a beneficial effect on our immune system, stress levels and just about every system in the body. We need a balance of activity and relaxation to think straight and be well.
Depression – At times when we’re under pressure, we can feel like we’re on a constant treadmill and can find ourselves falling into a depressed, unhappy state. This can sometimes be a chemical reaction which needs medication or can just be a symptom of stress which can be helped by making small changes to your routine. Nutrition and Exercise also play a vital role in lifting depression as do various other simple techniques which can be easily built into your routine.
Change – A lot of people find change unsettling. We like things to go along at a steady pace and allow change to take place gradually or we’d just like them to stay as they are. But change is the very nature of life itself (think about evolution!) and can be very exciting and offer new opportunities. Even change which is enforced can, in the long run, turn out to be beneficial. Developing a positive mindset and looking for the opportunities is good practice and we can give you lots of techniques and advice on how to cope with even challenging change and still come out smiling!
